  • Elliptical

    • Elliptical shapes are esthetically pleasing, but pose interesting fabrication challenges. A true elliptical shape consists of a constantly changing curve. The solution is to approximate the desired shape by suing two radii, one for each axis. Using this approach, virtually any elliptical shape can be achieved.

  • Hexagonal

    • Whether geometrically true, or just 6-sided, Wadco will design a form to meet your projects's specific requirements.

  • Octagonal

    • The geometrically tru octagon, like a circle. allows for a tieless forming configuration. Although, unlike a circular form, capacities are greatly redued. Forms are typically designed in two pieces with stripping flanges at opposite corners. This not only allows the form to be erected and stripped in halves, it enables the addition of a "filler" panel should the column's size be large in one axis. Typically, this configuration requires at least one row of vertical thru-ties on four foot centers, depending on the length of the longer side. Alternative configurations involve the use of a horizontal waler system to transfer pressure loads outside the form itself thru the use of external "dry" tie rods. In some instances the waler system completely wraps the column.

  • Round

    • Wadco has chosen to market round column forms designed for durability, longevity and ease of assembly. The geometry of a circle, more than any other shape, makes it possible to design forming approaches that varying wildly in price. The shape allows the skin of the form to contribute much more significantly to the capacity of the form. So much so that little else is required to contain the concrete pressures except a means of bolting the two halves together.Since a round form will naturally assume its shape when under pressure it technically does not need structure to make it round. Unfortunately, a form is not always in the casting configuration and therefore is susceptable to forces that will tend to deform its shape. Erecting, stripping, transporting and storing expose any form to potential damage. Wadco's round column forms are typically fabricated in 8', 4', 2' & 1' section lengths and have horizontal ribs on 2' centers, except at each end where an additional rib is provided to increase maximum column height that is capable of being lifted. This design results in a product that will provide years of multiple reuse service, minimizing form distortion and facilitating assembly because bolt holes remain aligned.

  • Square

    • What is square? To Wadco it means that it has 4 sides. Or does it? Maybe it has chamfered corners, is rectangular, trapazoidal or a parallelagram. If your columns are hollow or change dimensionally in one or both axes send us your concrete cross-section, along with information about pour rate, tie restrictions and form footage quantities and we will design a form for you. Do you have multiple sizes to cast? Consider pinwheeling panels. Radiused corners? Not a problem. Parabolic curves? Use flat panels arranged in chorded segments. Hollow column? Use our collapsable forming approach. Whatever your forming requirements may be, chances are Wadco has tackled them or something similar at some point over the last 25 years.
